You can check your UIF status online using the official uFiling website. This guide helps you see if your claim is approved, pending, rejected or already paid. The steps below explain everything you need to know about checking your UIF status online.


1. Check Online via uFiling Website

This is the primary method for checking your claim status, available credits, and contribution history.

  1. Visit the website
    Go to the official UIF uFiling website.
  2. Log in
    Use your South African ID number and password. If you are new, you must register first.
  3. Navigate to your status
    Click on Benefit Payments on the dashboard, then select View My Claims.
  4. View progress
    Your claim status and case number will appear.
    "Sent to Assessor" means under review. "Payment Reserved" means ready to pay.

What Your UIF Status Means

Cancelled

Your application has been cancelled. You must call the contact center to find the specific reason.

Auto Close

The UIF specialist has not accepted your application yet. It is currently sitting in the database waiting for processing.

Payment Finalised / Completed

You have either claimed all your available credits, or you have No Credits left. No further payments will be made on this claim.

Parked / Leave / Adoption

Application is on hold. Outstanding documents must be submitted to proceed.

Payment Blocked

Failed banking verification or incorrect details. You likely need to submit UI 2.8 & UI 49.

Payment Reversed

Payment bounced (often due to surname changes/marriage). You must update your details at the bank and submit UI 2.8.

Removal Final

Closing of old periods. UIF is awaiting an outstanding declaration from a previous employer.

Completed by Assessor

An assessor has processed the application. Note: This does not guarantee approval; it could be approved, rejected, or refused.

Call Log (Open Payment Grid)

A Continuation of Benefits (COB) was received. Payment is waiting to be processed by the paymaster.

Sent to Paymaster

The payment request has been successfully sent to the paymaster for processing.

Cancelled by Paymaster

The paymaster stopped the payment. You will not receive funds for this specific request.

Pending Adjudicate

A previous employer did not declare you, affecting your credits. The file is being fixed (adjudicated) to add missing declarations.
